In 2023, a group of entrepreneurs with a long history of scaling consumer products knew there had to be an answer and started building. Enter HomeBoost, which we’re launching out of stealth today.
HomeBoost’s mission is to help families make their homes more energy-efficient, saving them money on utility bills and making their homes more comfortable, while also reducing their environmental impact. We focus on solutions that are easy to use, affordable, and tailored to the unique needs of each home.
Our first product, BoostBox, is a DIY home energy assessment kit that’s available nationwide starting today. BoostBox, magnified by the HomeBoost mobile app and our backend technology, helps homeowners understand where problem areas in their homes are and how to take action. Our app provides step-by-step guidance on how to use the compact thermal camera and blacklight in each BoostBox to analyze your home. You can do as high level or in-depth of an assessment as you like—most beta customers have completed theirs in under 30 minutes.
The power of our artificial intelligence and computer vision engine then comes into play. Based on the inputs provided during an assessment and third party data like utility rates and weather, HomeBoost generates a detailed, yet actionable report complete with personalized recommendations on how homeowners can improve their energy efficiency. You can see upfront costs, expected savings, and even how long it’ll take to earn back your investment—all for just $99, which is 80% cheaper than traditional home energy audits.
This is just the beginning for HomeBoost. Our vision is to build a dynamic marketplace where homeowners can connect with skilled tradesworkers, utilities, and financing partners to make upgrading their home’s energy efficiency even easier.
Our goal for HomeBoost came from our desire to reduce greenhouse gasses after witnessing the younger generation. Many of us have children and were watching our kids getting involved in their green teams, leaving notes around the house that said “turn your light off”, being conscious of impacts of trends like fast-fashion. We got excited about how we could make an impact and more specifically an impact on residential energy which is 20% of carbon emissions. We dug into the space, talked to hundreds of consumers, and heard the same messages over and over:
- People are stressed about their current energy bills.
- With increasingly extreme weather events, energy bills are going even higher.
- With more people working remote and hybrid, the discomfort in their own homes caused by air drafts and inconsistent temperatures was more notable and more frustrating.
- Most importantly, consumers had no idea where to start.
We knew we have to meet consumers where they are, and worked to create a solution that is more convenient, very affordable, and can lead to real savings and home improvements.
We also want to give a huge thank you to our investment partners. To propel this vision forward, we’re thrilled to announce that HomeBoost has raised $4 million in seed funding from True Ventures, Gigascale Capital, and Incite.org. This investment will fuel our mission, helping us reach more homeowners, accelerate our tech development, and grow our team—all to better serve you on your journey to a more energy-efficient home.
